THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME MALTEPE
The name Maltepe is closely connected to the history of Kallithea Halkidiki. The modern village of Kallithea was founded in 1925 by Greek refugees from Asia Minor who settled in the area after the population exchange between Greece and Turkey. Many of the first settlers came from a place called Maltepe, located near the Sea of Marmara.
In memory of their homeland, the new settlement was initially named Neos Maltepes (New Maltepe). As the village developed over time, it was later renamed Kallithea, a name inspired by the beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
The name Maltepe, however, remains an important part of the local heritage. In Kallithea there is also the Maltepe Museum, dedicated to preserving the memory of the refugees who founded the village and the cultural traditions they brought with them.
The owners of Maltepe Luxury Accommodation come from one of the families whose ancestors were among the early settlers of the area. The name of the hotel was chosen as a tribute to this history and to the roots of the local community.
Today, Maltepe Luxury Accommodation continues this tradition of hospitality, welcoming visitors from around the world to experience the beauty and vibrant atmosphere of Kallithea.
